On Thursday 28th September we held our Annual Charity Golf Day at The Macdonald Portal Hotel, Golf and Spa. We raised over £2,500 for Claire House Children’s Hospice through hole sponsorship, raffle prizes, and games & challenges on the day. Claire House is doing incredible work in providing care and support to children and young people with life-limiting and life-threatening conditions. The generous donations received on the day will go a long way to supporting this great cause.
The golf day began with breakfast followed by a Biodiversity Net Gain presentation delivered by Richard Thomas, Group ESG Director and Finley Wisdom, Trainee Ecologist. They discussed time to target condition, and how an increase in BNG units can be achieved through enhancing or installing habitats in advance with early stewardship. Liam Blazey, Biodiversity Officer for Denbighshire County Council joined us as a guest speaker and gave a talk on the Denbighshire wildflower and tree nursery, local provenance, disease and climate resilience.
Following the presentation, the teams headed out on to the course to play 18 holes of golf. We were pleased to offer golf lessons once again this year and had clients sign up and join us for a crash course with the golf pro! We had some Trustgreen volunteers positioned out on the course, helping to serve refreshments and host the games and challenges on the tees. We concluded the day with dinner and prize giving. The winning team was captained by Nick Burton, with the Redrow team in close second and Cameron Owen’s team taking third place.
A big thank you to everyone who supported us – from donating raffle prizes and sponsoring holes, to generous donation on the day!
