At Trustgreen we’ve been striving to improve habitats that may have been affected by construction for the benefit of the communities and wildlife it supports for many years.

The air we breathe, the water we drink and the food we eat all rely on biodiversity. Simply put Biodiversity net gain (BNG) is an approach to developments, and / or land management, that aims to leave the natural environment in a measurably better state than it was before.

Preserving natural habitats

We go above and beyond by installing bird boxes to mature trees and going the extra mile to support the wildlife which depends on our developments – the birds and the bees! One of the biggest problems for pollinators is a lack of flowering plants, especially those packed with pollen and nectar. We plant pollinator-friendly plants across our developments to ensure our environments can thrive.

We strive to improve habitats

Many species are dependent on woodland condition. Active management which may include preserving ancient trees and deadwood, or thinning to allow light to reach the woodland floor — is essential to conserve and enhance biodiversity.

When working with these habitats, we focus on living within environmental limits, like preventing needless fuel wastage and unnecessary atmospheric pollution from petrol-powered mowers and service tools. We achieve this through the use of hand tools where possible.

Ponds and SUDS

Many components of SuDS can make a significant contribution to the biodiversity value of an area. It is this biodiversity and ecology value that underpins other functions, particularly those relating to health and wellbeing and management of flows and volumes.

Ponds are amongst the most diverse freshwater habitats. The conversation of ponds represents a cost effective way of maintaining or enhancing biodiversity, because of the typically small size of pond catchment areas.

What we do

Our commitment to ESG

As an organisation honesty, integrity and compassion are at the heart of everything we do. We aim to do the right thing. Always.

We are guided and driven by creating a positive, long-lasting impact regionally and nationally on the environment. Sustainability is crucial to how we operate as a business and we are committed to accelerating the necessary changes to do the right thing for our people, stakeholders and the developments we manage.

We view sustainability as a spectrum – not just environmentally but across everything we do, including our ESG performance. We offer complete transparency when it comes to diversity, equality, carbon emissions and sustainability and behave ethically and professionally at all times.

Trustgreen have recently taken over the maintenance of an estate in my ward and they have had an immediate impact. After years of neglect Trust have got straight down to work ensuring the parks have proper bin provision and seeing that the grass is cut and litter picked. There’s so much to do to get this estate up to the standard residents were promised but now with Trust on board for the first time I feel these promises will finally come to fruition.

Meet our community champion

Our community champion makes a difference at a grassroots level, and these small differences show other community members that they can collaborate and make a difference too. There are many ways in which community cohesion and harmony can be achieved and our community champion helps to promote positive partnerships, finding and developing community assets and connecting them to resources.
