With her third year as our in-house BNG & Habitat Ecologist under her belt, as well as a history of continuously educating herself on her craft, it’s no surprise that Finley Wisdom was nominated for CIRIA’s Biodiversity Champion Award: Early Career Professional. Not only this, but was then shortlisted against other top, young professionals. Finley’s nomination is a result of not only her expertise in her industry but also her willingness to share her knowledge to the betterment of others and the environment.
Finley has been delivering her CPD accredited ‘Introduction to Biodiversity Net Gain’ (BNG) seminars for the past twelve months, with the goal of upskilling her fellow Trust People as well as other industry professionals, including architects, housing developers and Grounds Maintenance Contractors, on the importance of BNG. On top of this, every penny raised from the entry fees to her seminars has gone straight to our Charities Of the Year, Duchenne UK and South Cheshire CLASP. Finley’s generosity and ever growing experience lead her to the final of CIRIA’s ‘Big Awards’, taking place in London on Wednesday 24th September, where her name was called as the winner of this prestigious award.
Just making it to the final of these awards is an amazing achievement, but to now have a winner on our team is a testament to Finley’s hard work, determination and dedication.
As part of her nomination, Finley was asked to share a video (below) to explain what this award means to her, along with why her expertise and ambitions make her worthy of this award. I’m sure you’ll agree that this video shows just a glimpse of her wonderful work and the longstanding impact it will have on the environment.
Biodiversity Champion
Finley said about her win:
Winning the Early Career Professionals Award at this year’s Biodiversity Challenge Awards with CIRIA was the perfect recognition of my journey and such a special moment that felt incredibly rewarding – from being a child watching nature documentaries and then being sat in university lectures, to now supporting others with BNG today to help shape greener, more nature-positive developments. It’s truly a full-circle moment my younger self would be proud of.
The awards are organised by CIRIA, the Construction Industry Research and Information Association, a neutral, independent and not-for-profit body. You can learn more about CIRIA here.
