What made you apply for the apprenticeship position at Trustgreen?

“I was in my last year at Reaseheath College studying business and finance, and I always knew I wanted to have a job somewhere within finance. I decided to take the leap of faith into the “real world” and started to apply for apprenticeships. I applied for the account’s assistant apprenticeship here at Trustgreen in 2018 and I was very lucky to have been given the opportunity.”

What are the key milestones and experiences that have helped shape your journey?

“I worked at Trust for around 2 years, before deciding to leave and find a job closer to home. However, after three months, I returned to Trustgreen. This experience taught me that “the grass isn’t always greener on the other side” and provided me with a valuable lesson. Two more years passed, and I realised a career in Accounting was not for me. This led to an opportunity to work in business development, which I found to be right the right fit. Since then, I have never looked back!”

Were there specific mentors or colleagues who played a significant role in your career development?

“Richard Watson and Ashley Maddock have been really supportive since day one when I began my apprenticeship. They have stuck with me through career changes and my decision to leave and return to the company. The company culture is such that employees are encouraged to try different roles and departments – if it benefits both the employee and the business of course.”

How did the company’s culture and values support your professional growth and development?

“Since I joined Trustgreen, I have grown both personally and professionally. I have developed lifelong friendships and feel like I am part of a family rather than just an employee. I have been fortunate to have amazing mentors who have surrounded me with high professional standards and industry experts who are always willing to share their knowledge to help me advance my career even further.”

What projects or initiatives have you been involved in that you’re particularly proud of?

“I am proud to say that client quarterlys have played a significant role in my progress in business development. Aynsley Finnen, our Client Manager has been a great mentor, guiding me throughout my journey. My work involves meeting clients, addressing their needs, and building a strong relationship with them. This has helped us to secure more work and establish ourselves as the first point of contact for our Clients, sharing our knowledge, helping where we can and providing quotations.

“I have been given the opportunity to work on the new Qube system at Trustgreen, which has been a major step forward in my career development. I have been personally selected to assist in building, reporting and setting up the Business Development (BD) side of the system. This gives me a sneak peek into how we will work in the future, and my opinion is highly valued for key parts of the system. I am proud of these accomplishments, among many others, during my time here at Trust.”

What are your aspirations for the future?

“I am thrilled to be part of the newly established Land Team, and I am excited to see what the future holds. I feel very proud to have been handpicked to join such an exciting project and learn even more about the business. One of our Directors often says, ‘The sky is the limit,’ and I believe that is true for Trustgreen. The company has grown significantly, and it continues to do so, which means there are many new opportunities available and many career paths to explore. I am looking forward to seeing where my growth takes me in the future.”

What advice would you give to other employees looking to progress in their careers within the company?

“If you ever have any worries, questions, or queries, please don’t hesitate to speak to a Director. Their doors are always open and they are always willing to help, guide, and most importantly, listen to you about anything. They will do their best to assist you in any way possible.”
